The Austrian company PALFINGER has officially opened its new production facility in Niš, operating under the name Palfinger proizvodnja d.o.o., marking the official start of operations at this modern industrial site. Construction of the facility began in September 2023, while production was launched during 2024 and gradually ramped up to full operational capacity. The official opening represents an important milestone in the company’s further development and expansion of its manufacturing presence in Europe.



Palfinger Serbia in Pančevo – a long-standing partner in the Serbian market
Representatives of Palfinger Srbija d.o.o. from Pančevo, the official PALFINGER distributor in Serbia, were also present at the opening ceremony. The company was founded in 2004 and has since been successfully operating from its production and service center in Pančevo. Its activities include the sales and installation of Palfinger cranes, warranty and post-warranty service, as well as the production of a wide range of truck-mounted superstructures and customized solutions.
The product portfolio includes tipper and cargo bodies, recovery platforms, forestry superstructures for timber transport, trailers and semi-trailers, as well as tailor-made solutions designed to meet specific customer requirements. Special emphasis is placed on build quality, spare parts availability, and reliable service support throughout the entire lifecycle of the equipment. The company’s expert team combines local experience with the high standards of the PALFINGER Group, ensuring efficient and long-term reliable solutions for transport, municipal services, forestry, and construction applications.
The event also featured a long-standing partner from Belgrade – Beokran, a company specialized in lifting and transport services as well as heavy-load handling, which has been successfully cooperating with Palfinger Serbia in Pančevo for many years.
They presented a recently delivered vehicle equipped with a Palfinger PK 1650 crane mounted on a Volvo FH500 chassis. This heavy-duty crane is equipped with a G-extension and an additional PJ240E fly-jib, increasing the vertical reach to over 35 meters and the horizontal reach to up to 21 meters, with a maximum lifting capacity of 32,000 kg.
The superstructure is mounted on a Volvo FH500HP 10×4 Rigid vehicle and includes a TS-5.1 body with a usable length of 5,100 mm, as well as a hydraulically extendable rear section providing an additional 1,000 mm. For safe operation in low-visibility conditions, the vehicle is additionally equipped with LED work lights.

Significant investment and capacity development in Niš
The total investment amounts to EUR 35.5 million, and the new facility represents an important part of PALFINGER’s strategy to expand its European production network.
The Niš location strengthens production capacities and ensures optimal connectivity with existing PALFINGER production sites across the region.
Key role of the Niš facility
The production facility covers approximately 15,000 m² and specializes in the manufacturing of welded steel components and subassemblies for various product lines – from loader cranes to access platforms.
Particular focus is placed on the production of outriggers, which are essential for safe and efficient crane operation.
The Niš facility represents an important manufacturing pillar within PALFINGER’s global production network. Components produced in Niš are delivered to other PALFINGER plants and become part of lifting solutions used in construction, logistics, infrastructure, and many other industries worldwide.
Workforce development and education in Niš
Niš is also an important hub for workforce development through vocational and dual education systems. In cooperation with technical schools and through modern training centers, PALFINGER actively contributes to the development of the next generation of skilled professionals. These programs enable young people to gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience using modern equipment, preparing them for secure and future-oriented careers in industry. Currently, around 175 employees work at the facility, with further expansion and hiring planned. By 2027, the number of employees is expected to exceed 350, making this investment highly significant for the local economy.
