Palfinger platforms on a nighttime mission in London

In the heart of the UK capital stands the London Eye, the world’s largest observation wheel and one of the most visited tourist attractions. Rising 135 meters high, it offers an unforgettable view of the entire city, but its impressive structure requires regular and demanding maintenance. For this reason, Orion Access Services deployed two Palfinger work platforms—the WT610 and P550.

The work was carried out at night to avoid crowds and ensure unobstructed access. A three-person team had to ascend to a height of 50 meters to inspect and lubricate the cables. In these tasks, each platform played its specific role— the WT610 provided direct, stable access in a straight line to the top, while the P550, thanks to its flexible arm and X-jib, skillfully navigated around all obstacles on the structure.

This operation confirmed that Palfinger platforms, with their reliability, reach, and flexibility, provide an ideal solution even for the most demanding maintenance projects in urban environments.
